Together
with the Asian Institute of Management Center for Social Responsibility, the
Action for Economic Reforms, the Institute of Church and Social Issues,
Partnership of Philippine Support Service Agencies, People’s Campaign for
Agrarian Reform Netowrk, Health Alternatives for Total Human Development
Institute, CODE-NGO made an Assessment of the Estrada Administration in 1999 in
time for his State of the Nation Address. These non-government organizations
assessed various areas based on government data vis-à-vis the targets set in
the Medium Term Philippine Development Plan for 2000-2004 and the commitments
made through recent policy pronouncements. In particular, they focused their
assessment of the Estrada Administration’s overall performance in poverty
reduction in the programs where they have developed their competencies as
non-government organizations.
Upon
the assumption into power of the Macapagal Arroyo Administration, the National
Economic and Development Authority led the updating of the Medium Term
Philippine Development Plan for 2000-2004. CODE-NGO participates in the Planning
Committee for Governance and Institutional Development Chapter. In solidarity
with other civil society organizations involved in the updating of the MTPDP,
CODE-NGO continues to engage the government in order to protect the gains of
People Power II and the initiatives of other administration such as the Social
Reform Agenda, Tri-Sectoral Conference, among others.
